Kristal Olivia Anne Sylliboy

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Kristal Olivia Anne Sylliboy on the morning of Sunday, July 2, 2023 in the Palliative Care Unit at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney at the age of 48.

Born in Sydney Kristal was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Eskasoni. She prayed the rosary and Divine Mercy daily and was devoted to our patron saint, St. Anne.

She was a loving and caring and free spirited individual who loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was the daughter of Francis Qui Gould (Mary Helen) and the late Helen Sylliboy. Kristal is survived by her loving partner Oliver Lewis, daughters, Emerald Sylliboy (Duran Paul) and Brandy Dennis (Arthur), grandchildren So’sep, Maizey, Noah, Dan and Haze. Brothers Clifford King, Logan (Ann) King and Duma (Mag) Bernard, Owen(Alaina) Gould, Tyler(Tahirih) Gould, Tanner (Shara Poulette) Gould and Calvin Stevens. Her sisters Sasheen Gould and Rita Sylliboy; Aunts Harriet Sylliboy, Linda Gould, Barbara Sylliboy, Iris (Ray)Doucette, Marina (Richard) Denny, Rita Isaac; Uncles, Athanasius (Rhenelda) Sylliboy and Grand Chief Norman (Arlene) Sylliboy; Kenny (Priscilla) Gould, Russell Gould, Allister (Cindy) Gould and Sheridan (Catherine) Gould. She will also be greatly missed by her godparents John Edward (Jackie) Paul and Harriet Sylliboy, special friend and caregiver Deborah Francis and her beloved godchildren Shemar Gould and Mari Morrison as well as by her numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Kristal was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Athanasius and Theresa Sylliboy, Paternal grandparents Frank and Mary Jane Gould; infant Granddaughter Alayah Sylliboy, uncles Kenny Sylliboy, Tommy Sylliboy (in infancy), John Duncan Doucette, and Simon Gould; Aunts Lorraine Sylliboy, Pauline Googoo, Emily Phillips, Norma Doucette, Freda Bernard and Margaret Simon.

Kristal went home peacefully climbing a stairway of prayers to Wa’so’q.

Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 9 at the home of Harriet and Loresa Sylliboy, 110 Castle Bay Road, Eskasoni. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 11 at 10:30a.m. at Holy Family Church with Fr. Antolin Asor and Deacon Tom Sylliboy officiating.
