Louis Joseph Marshall, 55 of Eskasoni, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, NS.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of Susie (Denny) Marshall of Eskasoni and the late Louis P. Marshall.

He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Joe Ma’sl was a kind, generous loving man, always with a big smile. For 14 years he worked for the Children Service’s; this was a job he loved and he considered a privilege to have worked with his co-workers and friends, which he loved so much.

Joe is survived by his special grandchild Christopher, his loving companion Darlene ‘Doll” Francis, who stood by his side and cared for him in a loving way; by sons Kenneth (Mary Ann), Pius (Michelle), Lloyd (Judina), Andrew (Mindy), Joe P. (Claira), precious daughter Annie Jane (Christopher),former wife Mary Margaret (Francis) Marshall, godson Jim, his grandchildren and numerous godchildren. Also surviving are brothers Carl P., George (Maklit), Fred (Kim), Pat (Sonia), Charlie, Mike (Judy) Johnson, Henry (Sandra), Peter Francis, Leonard ‘Oken” Marshall; sisters Mary C., Anna T., Mary Ann, Charmaine (Edgar), Annie Marie (Rannie) Denny and many close friends including Dean Christmas and Sandy Burns along with numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews, all of Eskasoni.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Peter and Madeline (Bernard) Marshall, maternal grandmother Harriet Denny, godfather Lee Cremo, godmother Molly Nevins, a grandchild and numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation for Mr. Marshall will take place after 7 pm on Saturday, August 18 at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni, Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 am at Holy Family Church with Rev. Joe Gillis officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Online condolences to www.twcurry.com
