98, Sydney
Peacefully and with great dignity, our mother, Margaret Mac Adam, passed away on the morning of Friday, December 9, 2011.
Born on October 12, 1913, she was the daughter of Norah (Bransfield) Quirk and James Henry Quirk of Sydney. Mom was predeceased by her siblings Tom, Jim, John, Dorothy and Agnes. Her sister, Norah Buggs, lives in Oakville. Surviving are her two daughters, Peggy of Sydney and Nora Jones of Cobourg, Ontario. She also leaves her son-in-law, Blake Jones, and her three beloved grandchildren, Lyle, Stuart and Sheilagh Jones, as well as eight nieces and nephews. Mom shared a great friendship with and will be missed by her buddy, Hazel Jones.
Mom enjoyed a long and rewarding teaching career that started in Lingan and ended at Holy Angels, with many schools in between. Following her retirement, Mom entered the world of real estate sales, the phase of her life that brought her both great enjoyment and success.
We would like to extend our deep appreciation to the wonderful staff at Mira Bay, Harbourstone Enhanced Care. They cared for Mom, both physically and emotionally, as if she were family.
While we feel blessed by the ease of her passing, we will miss our mother with all our hearts for the rest of our lives.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 12 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at T.W. Curry’s Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13 at Sacred Heart Church with Father Anthony O’Connor officiating.
