With great sadness the family of Margie Drohan announce her passing on Tuesday September 15, 2015. She was born January 27, 1934 to the late John and Catherine Beaton in New Waterford, NS.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond Drohan, Margie was the loving mother of Maureen (Alan MacNeill), Raymond (Nell), Peter (Wanda) and Roderick (Carol). She was the proud grandmother of Dylan, Rebecca, Lilly, Renee, Nicole, Raymond, Gillian and Jonathan.
Margie is survived by her brother and close confidant Alan (Buddy) Beaton, and many cherished friends, cousins, sisters and brothers in law, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Colin, Gerard, Bernard, Kathleen and close family friend, Father Rod MacSween.
Marguerite attended Mount St. Bernard College completing Secretarial Arts, she was one of the first of her generation to work full time while raising her four children. Margie was employed by the federal government, working at the Naval Base, Radar Base, retiring from the Sydney Post Office in1986.
Margie shared life’s adventures with her loyal friends, always with “a bit” of fun. She enjoyed playing cards, taking walks, gardening and sharing life lessons with her grandchildren in New Campbellton. Faith was important to Margie, as a member of St. Theresa’s CWL she was honored to be the Religious Convener from 2007 to 2009.
Visitation will be held Friday 2-4 & 7-9 pm atTW Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George Street, Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 am at St. Theresa’s Church, Whitney Ave, Sydney. Reception will be held at St. Theresa’s Parish Hall.
