It is will heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie “Germaine” (Poulette) Francis, 65 of Eskasoni. Marie passed away from lung cancer at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on December 5, 2019.

Born in Sydney she was the daughter of the late Richard and Mary Ann (Sylliboy) Poulette.

Germaine was a fabulous singer, she enjoyed singing karaoke at home with her family and friends. In her spare time she loved weaving baskets, quilting and baking.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Donald Bruce; children, Fabian, Donald (Melanie), Charmaine (Donald), Madeline (Albert), Bruce (Stacy), as well as two very special children who she loved like her own, Krystal and Vinny Francis; siblings, Margaret, Shirley (Vaughen), Louise, Audrey(Robert), Brendon (Mary), Richard (Ann), Bernard Charles (Betty) and Mildred; grandchildren, Kayden Marie, Marcellus, Angelina, Donald, Deidra, Ezzmae, Antonio; godson, Shawn. She was predeceased by siblings, Raymond, Brenda Jane, Findlay Poulette and baby Francis in infancy.

Visitation for Germaine will begin on Tuesday, December 10 at 7 p.m. at her home 4726 Shore Road, Eskasoni. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 12 at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni, Fr. Antoninus Antoni will officiate. Burial in the parish cemetery.
