The death of Marjorie Donovan, (Thompson, Johnson) of Sydney occurred peacefully on August 18th, 2022, surrounded by her family at the Elk Court Care Facility, Brookfield, Nova Scotia. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and aunt, she was born on Dec 17, 1940, in Sydney, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Thompson. Margie, as she was affectionately known by all, was a true and natural caregiver. She spent her life in selfless devotion to her family and community. Her greatest joy came from watching her children and grandchildren grow and she revelled in their achievements. Margie had a wicked sense of humour, a love of dancing, and immense pride in being a Cape Bretoner. She met and married her true love and soul mate, George Donovan, later in life and the pair enjoyed their twilight years travelling, dancing, and vacationing at the bungalow in Irish Cove. She is survived by her sons, Wayne Johnson (Berni Chapman), PEI, Derek Johnson (Shelley), Annapolis Valley, N.S. Very special sister Helen (Sydney), Betty (Toronto), Marilyn, (Halifax), as well as grandchildren, Brett, Reid, Katie and Maddie. Margie was predeceased by her first husband Clayton Johnson, her second husband George Donovan, her beautiful daughter Susen Rotto (Johnson), her parents, sister Joan, and brothers, Jimmy, Bobby, Norman, Joe and Davie.
