It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Margaret ‘Eileen’ Tucker on Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Florence Christie.
Eileen was a member of St. Augustine parish. She was a very loving and devoted housewife and mother who always made sure her family came first. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.
Besides her family, she welcomed the neighbourhood children into her home. She loved to read and play TV Bingo with her daughters. People may have known her as ‘Nanny Chop Chop’.
She is survived by her 10 children, Johnnie (Sharron), Alberta; Carol Ann Clark (Joey); Peter (Karen), both of Truro; Sharon Feener (Les); Robert (Diane); Kenny (Darlene); Donna (Greg); Lillian (Brian); Darlene (Hardge); Kelly MacLeod (Kenny), all of Sydney. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband Robert P. Tucker and brothers Francis and Sam Christie.
There will be no visitation for the late Mrs. Tucker. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am at St. Theresa’s Church with Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
