60 – Northside East Bay
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mike ‘Sharkey’ Campbell after a determined and courageous battle with cancer, on July 16, 2015.
Sharkey, as he was known to many, was a kind, compassionate and caring husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather.
He was the son of Angus Campbell and the late Betty Campbell of East Bay. He is survived by his partner, Cheryl Young, his son Matthew Campbell, and step children Amanda (Graham) MacDonald and Ashley (Billy) Quirk, sisters Marg MacInnis, Liz (Bill) MacDonald, Judy (Bernie) MacPhee and sister-in-law Susan Campbell, all of East Bay; brothers David, Grand Prairie; and Jody (Angie) of Sydney. He is also survived by his stepsister Shauna (David) MacLean, stepbrother Robbie (Heather) MacLean; grandchildren Hannah, Leland and Shyanne; nephews Johnathan, John and Phillip, as well as nieces Norma, Lee Beth and Melissa and also by his grandnephew Peter Harty.
He was predeceased by his mother, Betty Campbell, stepmother Rene MacLean, brothers John Murdock and Peter, and brother-in-law Stephen MacInnis.
Sharkey worked in the trucking business all his life, while spending the last 20 years with Armour-Pole Star. He was an avid, die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan and never gave up on them winning a Stanley Cup. In saying that, we ask that you wear any Maple Leafs attire to a celebration of his life, which will be held Monday, July 20 at 2:30 pm at St. Mary’s Parish East Bay. The family will receive friends and visitors in the foyer from 1 pm – 2:30 pm. Interment in East Bay Cemetery. There will be a reception at the East Bay Fire Hall following.
