Eskasoni
It is with great sadness we the family of Raymond F. Googoo, 57 of Eskasoni, announce his passing at his home, surrounded by his family and friends, on February 17, 2019, after fighting a battle with cancer.
He was the son of the late Roddie Googoo and Matilda (Dennis) Googoo.
He was dedicated to his work as a volunteer fire fighter and head security at the Pow-Wow in Eskasoni, he also helped fund raise for people in need. He worked with his dad as a plumber and loved to clean up the grave yard with his family. He liked to play bingo, card games and his favourite game, Yahtzee. Raymond loved to spend time with his grandchildren, Paris, Kiley, Sumarrah, Mason, Tilda, Mallory, Stephanie and baby Stephen and great grandson Audarius. He will be missed dearly by his godchildren, family and friends.
Raymond is survived by brothers Roderick (Christine), Ryan (Hazel) Mick (Dorothy), all of Eskasoni; sisters Barbara (David), Florence (Clarence), Laura, Doreen, Linda, Karen, Anita and Trudy; his one and only son Stephen, daughter-in-law April and by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Raymond was predeceased by his brothers Robert, Kenny; sisters Mary Isabel, Susie Jane, Clara, Sheila, Annie Bridget and Rose Ann.
The Googoo family would like to thank Dr. Rob Todd and Home Care and Palliative Care nurses who kept him comfortable at his time of illness.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 23 at 7 pm at the home on 91 Horseshoe Drive, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 25 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Church with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in Holy Family Parish Cemetery, Eskasoni.
