1950 - 2022
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of our loved one who passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Monday, September the 19th, 2022.
Bob is the son of the late Mary Bridget (Isadore) and Raymond Christmas of Membertou. Up until his retirement Bob worked for the Membertou Band as a carpenter and later as a janitor. Bob had a great love for music and sang every day, his favorite was fiddle music and playing drums.
Bob loved to go fishing with his boys on a whim, stopping anywhere they could. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan and had a great sense of humour and loved to play tricks and pranks on people. Bob was very friendly and would help anybody in need and loved to share his life stories with whoever would listen.
He had great faith and had a strong devotion to St. Ann’s Mission Church. Bob, along with his buddy Edmund Dooley held a walk-a-thon in the middle of a snow storm to raise money for his church. They walked from Membertou to Louisburg and back with Senator Dan Christmas driving behind.
Bob volunteered his time behind the scenes to help his wife with whatever needed to be done at the church.
Bob leaves behind his wife, Edith (Pearcey) Christmas and two sons at home, Shawn and Albert “A.J” (Miss Molly). As well as, daughters Karen Weeds and family, Of B.C., Vanessa (Fred) Bernard and family and son Kirk Doran and family, both of Alberta.
Also left to mourn; sisters; June (John, deceased) Christmas, Judy (Basil) Hodder, Cecelia (Sandy, deceased) Christmas, all of Membertou, Joan (Paul) Martin, of Ottawa.
Brother; George Sr.(Terry) Christmas and sisters-in-law Jessie and Puddy, of Membertou.
He also leaves behind his Uncle Dr. Peter Christmas and Aunt Viola Christmas, of Membertou. Brother in-laws; Bill (Joanne), Butch (Paula), Mike (Marie), Chris (Ann), Steve (Alison), Lenny (Brenda). Sister-in-laws; Cathy (Mike) and Barb (Gerry) all of NL.
Bob also leaves behind his Godson Luke Doucette and a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn.
Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased, by sister; Irene Paul and her husband Cyril, brothers; Russell Sr. and his wife Rhodena, Roger Sr. and Godson Roger Jr., his in-laws; Mary and Chum Pearcey of NL and his best man at his wedding, Maynard Christmas, of Membertou.
Every day Bob told his wife he loved her and those were the last words he spoke. She will cherish them forever until they meet again.
The family would like to thank Dr. Power and Maggie Wadden, Nurses, Mudd O’Reilly, Nicole Gallant, Rebecca Paul, and the staff of 3B at the CBRH for your compassionate care for Bob.
