Stephen Roderick MacDonald, 82, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010, surrounded by his family at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Stevie was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia on May 11, 1928. He was the son of the late Roderick and Mary MacDonald from 27 Glebe Avenue. Stevie spent his first 76 years in Sydney where he was a lifelong resident of the North End, a parishioner of Sacred Heart Parish and an employee of the CNR. In 2004 Stevie and Theresa relocated to Antigonish, Nova Scotia.
Stevie is survived by sons Kenneth (Betty), Truro, Roderick (Helen), Dartmouth, Leonard, Inuvik, NWT and daughters Carolyn (Paul MacDonald), Antigonish, Margaret (Billy Libbus), Lower Sackville and grandchildren Scott, Sean, Heather, Christopher, Kenzie, Stephen, Cameron, Murray and Erin and his sisters Sally (Diddy) Doyle and Dolena MacMillan.
Stevie was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Theresa, his infant daughter,Elizabeth, and his brothers Angus and Roderick (Nikie).
Visitation will take place in Sydney at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Wednesday, November 17 from 2 – 4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday November 18 at 10:00 a.m at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Anthony O’Connor officiating. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, with reception to follow at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel reception room.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sacred Heart Parish, Sydney, Nova Scotia, St. Ninian’s Parish, Antigonish, Nova Scotia and the Canadian Cancer Society.
