Steven Louis Herney

It is with broken hearts that the family of Steven Louis Herney announce his unexpected passing on Friday, June 20, 2025. A beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, he was born February 6, 1970 to the late Louis and Louise (Poulette) Herney.

Steven was a hardworking, carpenter who was proud to have worked on various projects around Eskasoni, including the Police Station, the Elementary School expansion, the Old Heath Centre to name a few. He was known for his kind heart and his willingness to help out wherever he might be needed. He will especially be missed by his grandchildren, whom he held very dear to his heart. He was a loving, caring and protective grandfather. He loved to dance and joke and have fun, the life of the party. His warm heart and fun loving nature won him many friends.

He will be dearly missed by his children Ariel Elene (Jordan) and Miah Kristin (Benjamin Sr.), grandchildren Jady, Karis, Denver, Jordel, Jordyn, Melody, Adalyn, Azyen, Casey and Benjamin jr., siblings Wanita (Clark) and George, his godmother Patricia Morris as well as other relatives and many friends.

Besides his parents, Steven is predeceased by Catherine, Martha, Mary and Mattio, godchild Tara Louise and godfather Edmond Morris.

Visitation will start at 7pm on Monday, June 30 at th Gabriel Centre, Eskasoni with a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, July 2 at 10:00am at Holy Family Church, 50 Gabriel St., Eskasoni. Internment in the parish cemetery. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting twcurry.com.
