95, in Madison, AL. She was born to Joseph N. Davis and Velvia Pody Davis on December 25, 1929, in Rockmart, GA, but grew up in Coosa County Alabama. After graduating from Weogufka High School, she attended Howard College (now Samford University) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Lois married Charles C. Moore on December 25, 1949. Every year thereafter, on December 25th, she would celebrate Christmas, her Birthday, and her Wedding Anniversary. However, she was always quick to remind others that it was more important to remember that it was Jesus' birthday. Through the years she held many different positions in churches and associations in Kentucky, Alabama, Maryland and Virginia, where her husband Charles was Pastor. She taught Sunday School classes for ladies for over thirty years. She actively served in the Women's Missionary Union, sang in the choir, and cared for and taught hundreds of infants and children in many church nurseries and classrooms. Not only was she a strong support for Charles in his ministry, but she was a true minister in her own right. During their two plus decades in Northern Virginia, she felt it was her privilege to spend 17 1/2 years working in Computer Services for the Marine Corps Association at Quantico Marine Base, Virginia.
During retirement in Sylacauga, AL, Lois became an active member of the First Baptist Church of
Sylacauga in 1991 and faithfully served on the Bereavement Committee for many years. Her ability to empathize with and focus on the needs of others made Lois perfect for this role. Her values were most evident in her deep devotion to the Lord and to her family. She led with the spirit of a humble servant and her compassion was felt by anyone fortunate enough to know her. To a fault, she put the needs of others ahead of her own. She often sacrificed her comfort and well-being to ensure the care and comfort of others, especially her family. Her sons were blessed to have a wonderful example of a loving, caring, compassionate, godly woman. Lois faced challenges with courage, putting on a brave face to hide her burdens and struggles from those she loved. This was most evident recently when she lost Charles, the love of her life, this past November. Despite her deep loss, she comforted family and encouraged them to continue to move forward. Her strength was unequaled. Her love was unconditional. She was always there for her family and friends, doing her best to keep them safe and happy. She particularly adored, doted on and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her sons, Stephen C. Moore of Huntsville, AL and John M. Moore (Suzanne) of Hartselle, AL; granddaughter, Lindsay Dempsey (Rob) of Toney, AL; grandsons, Jonathan Moore of Orlando, FL and Zachary Moore of Palm Bay, FL; great granddaughter Bristol Dempsey and great grandson Briggs Dempsey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 75 years, Dr. Charles C. Moore, her parents Joseph N. Davis and Velvia Pody Davis; sisters Joyce Weathers, Rubye Rayfield, Christine Cannon, Loretta Collins; and brother Leonard J. Davis.
A visitation for Lois will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Curtis and Son
Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Lois will be laid to rest in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
