Betty Cleveland, age 77, of Sylacauga, Alabama passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021. Betty was born December 12, 1943 to Edith Quillan Pinkard and James G. Freeman. A visitation for Betty will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel. A funeral service will occur following the visitation at 2:00 PM. A burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Dale Abrams to officiate all services. Betty is survived by her husband, Oscar Leon Cleveland; daughters Lisa D. Gauker, Linda C. Pitts (Garner), and Darlene C. Sailor; brother Alex Gurnist Freeman (Joyce), sisters Nell Thompson and Beverly Lynn; 5 Grandchildren and 4 and 1 on the way Great Grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by father James G. Freeman and mother Edith Quillan Pinkard; and sister Meredith Jackson. Serving as pallbearers are Garner L. Pitts, Brian K. Pitts, WIlliam Gauker, David McLain, David W. Wilson and Wallace Cleveland. Betty was married to her best friend 61 years this November. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her joy came from her family, spoiling her grandchildren, and being a child of God. Her passion was her flowers; she had an amazing green thumb and enjoyed quilting when she was younger.
