Funeral service Clemmie Morris Bates Thomaston will be Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 2PM at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Billy Paul Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30-2 at the funeral home.
Clemmie ended her wonderful 99 year life on Thursday, March 23, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Thomaston, parents, Jeffie Thomas Morris and Annie Eveline Morris, son, Rodney Eugene Bates, brothers, Louis Morris, Alton Morris, sisters, Clarice Drew, Odessa Nicholson, Lois Nelson and grandson, Todd Bates.
Clemmie was a member of Fayetteville Baptist Church. She was affectionately known by family as Bubba. She loved gardening and in her flower garden she had a gnome named for each of her grandchildren. Bubba enjoyed spending time with family at her lake home fishing, having fish frys, swimming and cooking delicious peanut butter cakes. Bubba handpainted hundreds of ceramic Santa's, which each family member will always cherish. Easter was a special family time for dyeing and hunting eggs. She loved her neighbors, church family, cousins and friends. Bubba enjoyed living life to the fullest. Her grandkids loved it last thanksgiving when she showed them how to hula hoop and at Christmas when she would show off her dance moves.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Murphree (Doug), Brenda Teaford (Ernie), Bonnie Bryant (Lester), bonus daughter, Dana Wells (Daryl), sister, Onie Trussell, daughter-in-law, Diane Bates, grandchildren, Scott Murphree (Stephanie), Cass Bryant (Nicki), Brain Murphree, Chad Bryant, Terra Prince DeLoach (Doug), Shandi Prince Kellum (Tony), Jodi Teaford Shaw (Bart), Rodney Bates Jr., Alan Bates, Angie Gregory, Jason Teaford (Stefanie), Jerry Batie (Heather), Suphronia Guinn, 39 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Scott Murphree, Brian Murphree, Cass Bryant, Chad Bryant, Doug DeLoach, Bart Shaw, Tony Kellum, Rodney Bates Jr.
