It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Wayne Minor, affectionately known as Donny, who left us peacefully at his residence in Sylacauga, Alabama, on January 27, 2025, at the age of 65.
Born on January 8, 1960 in Atlanta, Georgia, Donny was the cherished son of William R. Minor and Virginia R. Thomas. He is preceded in death by his beloved family members: H.G. Minor, Vester Minor, William Minor, Jimmy Minor, Vivian Minor, and Waylon Hogg. Donny is survived by his devoted wife, Michelle Minor, and his beloved daughter, Kaylan Jacobs (Seth) and his loving mother Virginia (Raymon) Thomas. He also leaves behind his stepdaughters that he claimed as his own, Kylie (Tyler) Hogg and Alyssa Williams, as well as his grandchildren: Zan (Kelsey) Ingram, Eli Ingram, Khi Ingram, Emma Jacobs, Able Jacobs, Liam Hogg, Ella Hogg, Hudson Hogg, and Evan Hogg. His great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Brailyn Ingram. He was so proud of all of them and would light up when talking about them.
Donny is also survived by his siblings: brothers Kevin (Kim) Minor and Shannon (Tammy) Bowers, and sisters Karen Minor, Deanna Quigley, Tammy Wright, and Pam (Robbie) Ammons, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will deeply miss him.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Donny served our country from 1977 to 1984, embodying the values of duty and honor. He was a hardworking man who drove trucks for many years before dedicating himself to the family business, M and N Alloy, where he served as the warehouse manager. Working alongside his father, uncle, and cousins brought him great pride and fulfillment.
Donny loved his motorcycles. On any beautiful day off, you could find him riding his Harley with Michelle, embracing the freedom of the open road. He loved Alabama football and loved traveling to games with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he made it a priority to attend their ballgames, traveling wherever they played to give them his unwavering support.
To those who knew him, Donny was a true prankster, filled with laughter and joy. He never met a stranger and had a unique ability to connect with everyone he encountered. His kindness and generosity extended to anyone in need; he would go out of his way to ensure that they had what they required. He had a soft spot for children, always ready to spoil them with affection and attention. Donny's love for animals was well-known, as strays often seemed to gravitate toward him. His family is sure that every dog and cat in Talladega county knew who he was and where he lived and worked.
Donny's family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life. The funeral service will be held, Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Bro. Tyler Hogg officiating and in lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Alabama Alzheimer’s Association or the Sylacauga Humane Society, organizations that hold a special place in their hearts.
