
Sylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Edgar Nolen Daniel, will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Westview Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Roberts officiating. He will lie in state one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Tallasahatchie Cemetery in Alpine, AL.
Mr. Daniel died peacefully at his residence Saturday morning at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.M. and Donnie Daniel; wife, Carolyn; and son, Scott Ewen Daniel. While serving over 20 years in the United States Air Force he spent 39 months in South East Asia with the 56th Special Operations Wing during the Vietnam conflict. Along with several other metals for service, Edgar was awarded the Airman’s Metal for Bravery for defusing burning napalm bombs. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W, American Legion, Disabled Veterans, and a Vietnam Veteran.
Edgar Nolen Daniels is survived by daughters, Susan Armand and husband Glen of Warrenton,VA, Stacy Robinson and husband Jess of Story City, IA; step-sons, Charles "Chuck" Floyd and wife Connie of Sylacauga, AL, Jason Floyd and wife Rebecca of Sylacauga, AL, step-daughter Marenda Lyner and husband Wayne of Fayetteville, AL, 21 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Daniel Robinson, Timothy Robinson, Jessica Blair, Stephen Robinson, and William Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Gregory Karr, Nicholas Floyd, Brandon Floyd, Noah Floyd, Patrick Cleveland, Ben Cleveland, Spencer Armand, and Jonathon Robinson.
In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions be made to Westview Baptist Church for Relay for Life.
