Elvin Odell Morris of Sylacauga passed away November 12, 2023, at the age of 89.
He was born May 14, 1934, in Fayetteville, Alabama to Jim and Margie Morris.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Helen and Christine; brothers, Rex, Joe,
Spencer, Billy, and Byron; sister-in-law, Linda Morris; brothers-in-law, Hoy Whitfield
and John Dunn; and son, Dewayne Morris.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at Fayetteville Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Michael Price officiating.
Mr. Morris’s joys included fishing, gospel music, rebuilding motors, and spending
time with his family. He loved the outdoors—over the years he could be found
outside coaching youth baseball, riding a bicycle, or tending to yardwork. In his
later years he enjoyed maintaining a vegetable garden and watching his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. Mr. Morris was a retiree of the Georgia
Marble Company in Sylacauga, where he worked for 46 years.
Survivors include daughter, Kristi (Jimmy) Jones; son, Greg (Lisa) Morris; daughter-in-
law, Sheila Morris; sisters, Florence Dunn, Margene Whitfield, and Brenda (Jackie)
Moore; brother, Larry Morris; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host
of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
