

She was born in Tallassee, Alabama on March 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Onesimus and Clemmie Foster. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Sue Hawkins and her brother, Irvin Foster. Her sister, Marie Hall, went home to be with the Lord on December 19. 2023.
Florence attended high school in Tallassee and Mobile, Al. Upon completion of high school, she completed additional training in the area of business and child development.
While living in Mobile, AL, Florence met the love of her life, Marvin, in 1942. Marvin soon enlisted in the US Army and served valiantly during WWII. Upon his return, they were married on July 7, 1945. They moved to Sylacauga, AL and became active in community and church events. They were involved members at Westview Baptist Church from 1946 to 1970. She had been an active member at Sylacauga First Baptist Church for forty-three years from 1970 to 2013. While there, Florence participated in many capacities, including leading children and adult classes, WMU, and most recently homebound ministry. Florence also found great happiness when working with children as she served as a teacher and director of a local preschool for many years. Florence was happiest in her kitchen preparing a delicious cake and meal or in her garden harvesting flowers and homegrown vegetables.
Throughout the years, family provided her great joy. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and spoke of them lovingly and often. She is survived by her two beloved daughters: Susan Wilson and husband Andy of Ponte Vedra, Florida and Sherry Starovasnik and husband Dean of Duluth, Georgia. Her grandchildren are Anthony Wilson (Lianne) of Miami, FL, Aaron Wilson (Laura) of Jacksonville, FL, Daniel Starovasnik (Aubrey) of Columbus, Ohio and Caleb Starovasnik (Courtney) of Garner, North Carolina. Her great-grandchildren are Kaitlyn Wilson, Garrett Wilson, Shane Wilson, Emily Wilson, Jacob Wilson, and Elowyn Starovasnik (arriving March 2024).
The family would like to thank the staff of Presbyterian Village Austell, GA for their care and support of Florence over the past six and a half years.
The private family service is planned with Rev. Tim Childers officiating. Florence will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law and grandsons.
