Gary was a 1971 graduate of Sylacauga High School where he lettered and excelled in football, baseball and basketball. He was a member of the 1969 State Championship football team under Coach Tom Calvin. He was a pitcher for the Sylacauga Aggie baseball team and went on to accept a full scholarship to the University of Alabama to play baseball as a pitcher for five more years. He was a proud graduate of University of Alabama. Through the years he coached Sylacauga Little League where he coached the 1987 All Star team to a State Championship and to make history as the first All Star team in Sylacauga to make the semi-finals in the Southeastern Regionals in St. Petersburg.
Gary was retired from Ray Press Corporation where he was employed as a Quality Control Supervisor for many years. He was an avid fisherman with many tournament wins. He loved to work in his yard, gardening, and flowers. As an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan he was a Tide Pride Season ticket holder and attended all the games with friends from many areas and a special friend Ron Dupree and family from Mississippi.
Gary was a kind and humble man. A loving son, brother, and uncle that will be dearly missed. He loved his family and friends. When you hear "Roll Tide" think of "Epp" with a smile on his face.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.curtisandsonfh.com for the Epperson family. Curtis and Son North Chapel will direct the service.
