Gene Boyd HughesSylacauga, AL - Funeral service for Gene Boyd Hughes, 73, will be Friday, February 17, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Radney-Smith Chapel with B.F.(Sonny) Riggins and Tony Blankenship officiating.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.Mr. Hughes died Tuesday, February 14, 2012. He was retired from Kimberly-Clark with 37 years of service.  Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Sylacauga Church of Christ.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.He is survived by wife of 47 years, Mary Hughes; sons, Bill Hughes and Don Hughes both of Sylacauga; daughter, Tammy Garrett, husband Ricky of Sylacauga; grandchildren, Chase Hughes, wife Amanda of Alex City, Brooke Hughes, Katie Hughes, Nikki Garrett and Jordan Garrett all of Sylacauga; great-grandchildren, Brayden Hughes; brother, David Hughes of Huntsville; sisters, Priscilla Mitchell of Sylacauga, Hilda Thornton, husband Hubert of Linden, AL and Martine Hughes of Sylacauga; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.Pallbearers will be Bryan Hughes, Byron Hughes, Johnny Hilyer, Steve Embry, Don Wilson and Troy Wilson.Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com.Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the services.
