

James Carl Dickey, Sylacauga - Graveside service with full Military Honors for James Carl Dickey, 82, will be Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Marble City Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating. Mr. Dickey passed away on September 26, 2011 at Coosa Valley Medical Center Long Term Care following a lengthy illness. Jim was born on February 19, 1929 in Memphis, TN. He retired with 22 years of service in the U.S. Army serving in Korea and Vietnam. In 1978 after moving to Sylacauga he started Able Services Co., where he did Construction and Home Improvements. He retired in 1998 after 20 years of service. He was a member of First Assembly of God. He is survived by his wife, Carol Dickey of Sylacauga; special little girl, Elke, sons, James Lee Dickey (Sarah) of Wilson, NC and Robert Dickey of Birmingham; daughters, Sarah Chapman of Birmingham, Dixie Catherine Sterns of TN and Patty Lucas (John) of Wilsonville; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Dickey of New Johnsoville, TN; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, September 30, 2011 from 5:30-9 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel. Pallbearers will be Ed Duke, Jerry Adair, Michael Adair, James Dixon, William Swain and Carl Holley. The family wishes to thank Dr. Abdella Elkheir, the nurses and staff of Coosa Valley Long Term Care for the love and tender care given to him during his stay, you have become our long term family.
