John Troy Deason

Mr. John Troy Deason age 92 of Childersburg, Al passed away on March 29, 2012 at St. Vincents East Hospital in Birmingham, Al. Funeral service for Mr. Deason will be on Monday April 2, 2012 at Curtis and Son North Chapel at 1PM. Visitation will be on Sunday April 1, 2012 from 5-7PM at the North Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Karl Doerner will be officiating the service. He was born March 25, 1920 in the Shady Grove Community of Clay County. The son of John Harvey Deason and Nettie Hickey Deason. He Graduated from B.B. Comer High School in 1940 where he lettered four years in football and led the nation in passes completed. That record held for more than 20 years. 1938 and 1939 are the only two years B.B. Comer was undefeated in football. He served as team captain in 1940 and was offered scholarships to Clemson University and Howard College (Samford University). He served as an official for high School football and basketball for AHSAA for 10 years. He served in the US Army during WWII. he was employed with Alabama Power Company and lated retired from the Alabama Ordinance Depot in Anniston. After retirement he and his wife Charlotte loved on Logan Martin Lake for more than 25 years where he enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening. He was a member of Birmingham First Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hoover, Al. He is survived by two sisters; Shirley (Russell) Butler and Jessie wesson, his Son; Michael Troy (Lou Earle) Deason of Birmingham, Two Grandchildren, Jon Deason of Auburn and Stacey (Jeff) McLaughlin of Guntersville and Three Great Grandchildren; Frank, William and Mary Crawford McLaughlin. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations for the Honduras Mission School Project. Member of Mr. Deason's Church will be departing July 1, 2012 to construct the school.
