We are sad to announce the passing of our dear mother, Martha Anne Edwards, 74, of Alexandria, Virginia. Martha died of natural causes in her home with loved ones near, on January 25th, 2023. She was deeply loved, and we will miss her very much!
Martha was raised in the Sylacauga/Childersburg area, born to parents Milford and Nettie (Hooper) Tyler. She graduated from B.B. Comer High School. After High School, she achieved a degree from Nunnelley State Technical College. She, her son, and former husband eventually settled down in Alexandria, Virginia, after traveling the country due to his military career. Martha always spoke about how she loved seeing new places, and especially loved her time spent in Alaska. She proudly worked for the U.S. Department of Defense, and retired after a thirty-plus-year career.
Martha was a proud American, devout Christian, and amazing, mom, sister and the BEST granny. She was funny, silly, loving, and kind. Martha loved the ocean, cooking, and entertaining others. She mostly loved spending time with her grandson, Michael and spoiled him with love and affection. Martha was very charitable, and did not know a stranger. She was always helping others.
Martha is survived by her son, Jason Edwards (Meghan), grandson Michael Edwards, and sisters Gerri Macleroy, and Susan Deaver (Kurt).
