Mary "Sue" Maxwell

Sycamore, AL - Funeral service for Mary "Sue" Maxwell, 67, will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Odena Baptist Church with the Dr. Danny Courson officiating. Burial will be in Odena Baptist Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.

Mrs. Maxwell died Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sadie Mae Hill; father, Charlie Hill; brother, Melvin Hill; brother, Earl Hill; brother, Ed Hill; and sister, Daisey Allen.

Mrs. Maxwell was a member of Odena Baptist Church in Sylacauga and was very active in their Wednesday Night Fellowship. She was known to always be busy helping others. She worked tirelessly with Relay for Life for many years and was also known for her pillows that she made for those receiving chemotherapy. Her passion for helping with Relay for Life came from her loss of many brothers and sisters, who had battled with cancer. She fought her own battle heroically. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. Mrs. Maxwell will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Maxwell; two sons, Jimmy (Tina) Ridley of Sycamore and Rodney (Barbara) Ridley of Meridian, M.S.; two daughters, Myra Hathcock and Sheila Curtis; two brothers, Joe Hill and Gene Hill; sister, Faye Moore; eleven grandchildren, Beth Ridley (Rose), Matt (Jenn) Ridley, Brittany Ridley, Chandler Ridley, Rebecca Johnson, Ryland Johnson, Zach Mitchell, Jacob Vincent, Elizabeth Strickland, Brittany Strickland, and Dakota Strickland; three great-grandchildren, Sadie Ridley, Camo Ridley, and Nora Ridley.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Odena Baptist Church in Sylacauga, AL.
