Michael was preceded in death by his parents Charles Heflin and Eunice McGhee Maddox of Childersburg, Alabama; his brothers Charles Allen Maddox, Billy Franklin Maddox, and Donald Wayne Maddox; his sisters Lynese Maddox Dobbs, Delores Maddox Meeks, and Linda Maddox Jinks.
Michael was a 1971 graduate of Childersburg High School where he was a varsity football, basketball, and baseball player. He went on to proudly earn a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree from Auburn University, becoming a true “Auburn Man” in every sense.
Following college graduation and marrying his high school sweetheart, Sharon, Michael went on to serve his hometown community of Childersburg in so many meaningful ways. He served as the General Manager of the Childersburg Water, Sewer, and Gas Board for over 30 years. Michael was an Associate Pastor and Sunday School teacher at Grace Baptist Church; he loved his Sunday School class dearly. He also greatly enjoyed coaching his sons in youth sports and serving as the PA announcer for Childersburg
Tigers football and basketball games. He was an avid Auburn Tigers and Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
Above all else, Michael was a very loving, dedicated, and Christ-like husband, father, and grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and traveling to the beach together.
