Graveside service for Michael Ray (Cheese) Sasser, age 49 of Sylacauga, will be Monday, June 28, 2021 at 2PM at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Keith Owensby officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 at Curtis and Son North Chapel.
Mr. Sasser passed away June 24, 2021 at St. Vincents Southside Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.
His life was lived especially for his children. To him, this was what life was all about. Also, he deeply enjoyed his work as a police officer, deputy sheriff and prison system investigator. He also served as a youth pastor in Georgia. Michael graduated from B.B. Comer High School, Troy University and the Georgia Police Academy.
He was a member of Valley View Church of God for many years.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather, Tierce C. Sasser and grandmother, Mildred Conway Sasser, grandfather, E.J. Kitchens, grandmother, Louise Kitchens Maxwell, aunt, Barbara Davies and uncles, E.J. Kitchens, Jr., Sherman Kitchens and Herndon C. Gardner.
He is survived by his parents, Tierce E. (Gene) Sasser, mother, Mary Evelyn Sasser, sons, Michael Slayd Sasser of Dublin, GA, Jackson Colter Sasser of Jacksonville, FL., Jason Batten of Jacksonville, FL., daughters, Sarah Kate Sasser of Dublin, GA., Mary Elizabeth Margaret (Mem) Sasser of Jacksonville, FL., brother, Terry Sasser (Natalie) of Helena and sister, Lynn Medders (Norman) of Albertville, AL.
Pallbearers will be Norman Medders, Mack Ingram, Byron Sasser, Tyler Murray, John Maxwell, and Sam Albert.
