Later he returned to his avocation of building. He completed many condominiums and homes in Baldwin County. Prior to the birth of his children he was a professional musician. He became an accomplished clarinet and saxophone player at Sylacauga High and continued that pursuit in the Auburn Knights and as a musician in the Air Force. While serving in the Air Force he married Emily Whitehurst, the mother of his children. The need to care for his family meant he could not devote the time necessary to maintain his craft. His love of salt water fishing came second only to his love for his family. The call of the sea was in his blood, and he shared this calling with all who knew him. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1 at Curtis and Son Funeral Home on the Talladega Highway in Sylacauga. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service and at 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 31. In lieu of flowers, spend the day fishing. Online condolences at www.curtisandsonfh.com
