Raymond William Mathes - Sylacauga - Funeral Service for Raymond William Mathes, 43, of Sylacauga will be Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Rev. Cary Brown and Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Springs Cemetery. Mr. Mathes passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Tambra (Tammy) Mathes of Sylacauga, daughter, Jessica Michelle Mathes of Oregon, son, Raymond Mathes Jr. of Oregon, mother, Mary Frances Hall McMillen of Modesto, Cal., grandmother, Betty Beach of Farmesville, Ohio, brothers, Jimmy Hall and George Robinson of Hayward, Cal., Sister, Georgette Robinson of Hayward Cal., Sister-in-laws, Karey (Marty) Horn of Talladega, Laura (Mike) Walters of Sylacauga, brother-in-law, Arthur Cecil Jr. of Sylacauga. Several nieces and nephews in Cal. and Sylacauga. Pallbearers are Kevin Horn, Marty Horn, Joel McKemie, Matt Canoles, Steve King, Mike Walters. Ray traveled to Alabama from California following a white dove on a new adventure and a new life style. He learned construction and carpentry work from the ground up and made a name for himself in his work. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 23, 2011, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the North Chapel.
