Mrs. Wanda Batson Vardaman, age 52, of Sylacauga passed away Sunday, April 18th at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. Mrs. Vardaman was a prominent Alabama attorney based in Sylacauga and an active member of the Alabama Bar Association. She was also a member of the Alabama Quarter Horse Association as well as the East Alabama Horse Association. Mrs. Vardaman is survived by her husband, John I. Vardaman III of Sylacauga, AL; her sons, Joshua C. Batson (Katie) of Sylacauga, AL, Christopher D. Vardaman (Terri) of Atlanta, GA, and John I. Vardaman IV (Cindy) of Atlanta, GA; her mother, Joyce S. Hutchinson (J.C.) of Talladega, AL; her brother, Tommy Wallace (Anna) of Sylacauga, AL; her nieces, Stacie Bullard (Daniel) of Sylacauga, Al., Julie Johnson of Talladega, Stephanie Hopson of Birmingham, and her cousin, James Edward McKay (Cathy); as well as four grandchildren, her beloved dog, Dixie, and other relatives and close friends, Pat Brasher and Robin Mayfield. Preceded in death by her father Elbert T. Wallace Sr. Pallbearers will be John Floyd, Barry Vaughn, Jimmy Avery, Wendell Luker, Rusty Mayfield and Kyle Jurdan. Visitation will take place Tuesday evening, April 20th, from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home's North Chapel. A graveside service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga on Wednesday, April 21st, at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend John Weaver officiating.
