William R. Jones Jr.

He was a retired Baptist Preacher, a World War II veteran and Air Force Chaplain, and a member of First Baptist Church, Sylacauga.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years Betty Sprayberry Jones, daughter Joy E. Jones Melton and her husband Howard Melton of Sylacauga, son William R. Jones III and his wife Pearl of Sterling Heights, Michigan; son Steven Sprayberry and his wife Carol Horton Sprayberry, daughter Beverly Sprayberry White of Sylacauga; brothers James T. Jones of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert B. Jones of Asheville, North Carolina as well as numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and a host of other relatives.

He was proceeded in death by his first wife Alene Johnson Jones; parents William R. Jones, Sr., and Gladys A. Gardner Jones, and 10 brothers and sisters.

A visitation for William will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.

William will be laid to rest in Talladega Springs Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers are Joshua Melton, Jeremy Melton, Ryan Akers, Robert Sprayberry, Amanda Jones, William A. Jones, Timothy Jones, Paul Funderburg. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Brian White, Brody Melton, Branson Melton, Katherine Hessling, Rowen Akers and Hudson Akers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in William's memory may be made to First Baptist Church of Sylacauga; and Marble City Baptist Church.
