Sylacauga, AL. - Willie Jo Palmer Blankenship, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Willie Jo was born in Weogufka, Alabama.
Willie Jo is survived by her sons, Terry Palmer (Tonya), Mike Palmer (Angie), Bill Pahler; sister, Linda Palmer (Melvin); and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Willie Jo was preceded in death by her first husband, Arlie Alton Palmer "Buck"; second husband, Offie Blankenship "Red"; parents, Judson Taft Calloway and Mary Edna Carter Calloway; and sisters, Glenda Pope, Kay Ayers and Betty Calloway.
Willie Jo was a good mother. She had a strong Christian faith, with a positive outlook on life and people she came in contact with. Willie Jo enjoyed fishing, especially to catch her favorite meal of catfish. She loved dancing with her sons and had beloved pets, Tiny and Bear who loved her to death.
Willie Jo will be missed by all who loved her.
A visitation for Willie Jo will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Jones officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are Clay Smith, Blade, Curtis Hunt, Victor Vega, Chris Ewing, Jaden Vega and Wade Clark.
Willie Jo Palmer Blankenship will be laid to rest in Old Weogufka Cemetery.
