Doris Brown Newton

Sylvania –Doris Brown Newton, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at her residence in Sylvania. She was born in Cartersville, GA, was a homemaker and was a member of Union Baptist Church. She attended GA State College for Women and the University of Georgia where she met her husband, Fred, whom she married on June 12, 1947. She was an avid follower of all sports and especially Atlanta Braves Baseball and college football. She also enjoyed traveling and saw many sites around the world. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Fred B. Newton, Jr.; Parents: Hiram Wallar & Willie Campbell Brown; Brothers: Billy Brown and Donald Brown.

Survivors: Daughter and Son-In-Law: Susan N. & Mike Daley of Sylvania; Son and Daughter-In-Law: Rick & Linda Newton of Sylvania; Sister: Shirley Brown Stegall of Cartersville, GA; Sister-In-Law: Mildred W. Brown of Cartersville, GA; Grandchildren: Michael & Stormee Newton, Beth D. & Luke Boswell and Allen & Jenny Daley, all of Sylvania; Step-Granddaughter: Melissa Roberts of Evans, GA; Great-Grandchildren: John Boswell, Caroline Boswell, Michael Boswell, Mary Liesel Daley, all of Sylvania and another Great-Granddaughter to be born in August; Step-Grandson: Aaron Roberts of Evans, GA; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Braswell and Rev. Al Usher officiating. Burial in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Michael Newton, Allen Daley, Luke Boswell, Gary Barron, Pat Brown, Dean Brown, Allen Newton, Koelker Pfeiffer and Keller Newton.
