
Sylvania –Harold Noel Starling, Sr., age 80, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Syl-View Health Care in Sylvania. He was born in Miami, FL, was a retired banker (vice-president) and was a member of Sylvania First Baptist Church. He was also a retired member of the National Guard, a member of the Lions Club, a previous board member of the Effingham County Hospital and board member of the North Florida YMCA. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Malcolm Noel & Juanita Hughes Starling; Brother: Ted Starling.
Survivors: Wife: Shirley Elizabeth Massey Starling of Sylvania; Daughters and Son-In-Law: Barbara Ann Bass of Jacksonville, FL and Brenda Sue & Richard Foster of Jacksonville, FL; Son and Daughter-In-Law: Harold "Skip" & Nathalie Ann Starling of Sylvania; Sister and Brother-In-Law: Glenda & Dan Jones of Waycross, GA; Brothers and Sisters-In-Law: Joseph & Sandra Starling of Asheville, NC and Raymon & Margie Starling of Guyton, GA; Grandchildren: Crystal Starling, Amanda Starling and Natalie Starling, all of Sylvania, George Bass, Jr. and Richard B. Foster, both of Jacksonville, FL and Jacqueline A. Foster of Fleming Island, FL. Several Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation: Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
Funeral Services: Friday, July 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Sylvania First Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Cooper officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial at Lawrence Baptist Church Cemetery in Pembroke, GA.
