

Sylvania –James Earl “Jimmy” Joiner, age 68, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, in Jenkins County. He was born in Jenkins County, GA to the late Gary Vincent & Juanita McLean Joiner. He worked as a carpenter with the Local Union 256 UBC Savannah and was a member of Millen Baptist Church and Black Creek United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the National Rifle Association and member of the Boy Scouts. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, loving to camp and make turkey calls. He was a history buff, loved sports and his favorite places to go were the mountains and Lane’s Landing on the Ogeechee River. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Brother: John C. “Johnny” Joiner; Granddaughter: Aniston R. Zipperer.
Survivors: Wife: Kathy Scott Joiner of Sylvania; Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Alaina J. & Brad Zipperer of Millen, GA, Missi J. & Neal Strickler of Mobile, AL and Krista J. Piercy of Wesley Chapel, FL; Son and Daughter-In-Law: Kirk B. & Calli A. Joiner of Sylvania; Sisters: Sandra J. Tabb of Roswell, GA and Meia Joiner of Martinez, GA; Brothers: Gary C. & Betty Joiner of Brooklet, GA and Robert Michael “Mickey” Joiner of Millen, GA; 7 Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation: Friday, June 10, 2016 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
Graveside Services: Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 10:00 AM at the Joiner-Lane Cemetery with Rev. Robert Poston officiating. Burial following. Cemetery located on Old Savannah Road West in Millen, GA.
