James "Jim" Richard McCauley

Sylvania – James “Jim” Richard McCauley, age 74, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at his residence in Sylvania. He was born in Rochester, PA, was retired, after 20 years, from the Sylvania Post Office where he was the Postmaster and was a member of Sylvania First United Methodist Church, but also attended Sylvania First Christian Church. He also worked as a floral designer before working at the post office, was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War and was a member of the VWF Post 7116 in Sylvania. He was also very active in the Relay for Life organization. He was preceded in death by His First Wife: Linda Jackson McCauley; Parents: Samuel Howard & Ethel Johnson McCauley; Sister: Shirley McCauley Knecthel; Brother: Edwin Johnston McCauley.

Survivors: Wife: Lawanda Bazemore McCauley of Sylvania; Daughters: Lori Sue Collins of Sylvania and Jamie Lyn McCauley of Taylors, SC; Sons: James Richard McCauley II, Bobby Bazemore and Nick Mock, all of Sylvania; Sisters: Kimberly Ann Mullinax of Thomson, GA and Myrna McCauley of Abingdon, VA; Brother: Earl Samuel McCauley of Altus, OK; Brother-In-Law: Ted Knecthel of Harlem, GA; 10 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation: Monday, January 5, 2015 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.

Funeral Services: Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler officiating. Burial following at Screven County Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.

Pallbearers: Mike McCauley, Keith McCauley, Allen Fulmer, Victor Patterson, Leo Anderson, James Bryan Collins and Bobby Bazemore. Honorary Pallbearers: Members of VFW Post 7116, Wall’s DPC Coffee Club, Employees of Spanish Oaks Hospice, Members of the Adult Sunday School Class at Sylvania First Christian Church, Harold Mock and Dr. S. J. Morgan.
