Joseph Douglas Owens

He was born in Hiltonia to the late Sammie and Thelma Fries Owens. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion, was retired from the Screven County Sanitation Department after 26 years of service, and was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, his wife, Trula B. Yates Owens, and a Granddaughter, Kristien Lynn Owens.

Survivors include, A Daughter and Son-in-Law, Debra and Matthew Haley, A Sister, Sylvia Ann Owens, A Brother and Sister-in-Law, Jerry Ronnie and Earlene Owens, and a Granddaughter, Savannah Bea Elizabeth Owens all of Hiltonia, and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Owens will be held Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10:00 A.M., from the graveside at the McDonald Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Vernon Edenfield officiating.

Pallbearers will be: Tom Cauley, Wayne Stanley, Carl Bargeron, Tom Sheppard, Al Griffin and Robert Stanley.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
