
Rocky Ford – Linton Stephens Evans, age 93, passed away Tuesday, December 28 2010 at Coffee Regional Medical Center. He was born in Screven County, was a retired retail merchant and was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a member of Douglas Branch Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 116, a Mason for 60 years, a Shriner for 55 years and was a former member of the Screven Co. Board of Education in the 60’s. He was preceded in death by his Wife: Edith Lee Evans; Parents: James Hezekiah and Helen Skinner Evans; Granddaughter: Stephanie Holton; Sisters: Lura E. Averet, Elizabeth E. Jamerson and Irma Spearman; Brothers: Ralph Evans, James H. Evans and John Evans; Special Friend: Carolyn E. Lewis.
Survivors: Daughter and Son-In-Law: Wanda E. and David Lloyd of Douglas. GA; Sister: Mrs. Winifred Evans High of Sylvania; 3 Step-Grandchildren: Jenny Lunsford of Albany, GA, Suzanne Padgett of Lenox, GA and Lindsey Barkwell of Austin, TX; 3 Step-Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation: Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
Funeral Services: Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Chapel with Dr. Charlie Cooper officiating. Burial at Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Don Jamerson, Jimmy High, Tom Averet, Todd Roddenberry, Bob Evans, Mike Roddenberry and Bryan Roddenberry. Honorary Pallbearers: American Legion Post 116 and Sylvania Masonic Lodge.
