Mrs. Pauline Brant Williams, 98, of Sylvania, died Saturday night, April 14, 2012, at Tara Nursing Home in Thunderbolt, GA.
She was the last surviving child of Owen William and Ella Bazemore Brant and the wife of Robbie B. Williams all who preceded her in death.
In 1960, Pauline purchased the Gamecock Roost and began operating it as Williams Soda Shop. She later opened a second business at Mims Plaza called Williams Grill, She later sold the Soda Shop and with her husband continued to run the Grill until their retirement in 1989. Her pies, soups and salads have been greatly missed along with their "hand-pressed" hamburgers. Her family fondly remembers her caramel cake and peanut brittle.
She was a member of the Sylvania 1st United Methodist Church and had also been a member of the Friendship-McBride Homemakers Club, Sewing Club and Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her children: Russell B. (Barbara) Williams, Evans, Ga, Geraldine W. Pye, Savannah, Barbara W. (Jimmy) Brant, Rincon, GA and Paula F. Williams, Athens, GA, Grandchildren: Julie Pye, Bonnie Moore, Ginger Sutton, Greg Brant, Angie Bowers, Cathy Comb, Al Pye, LU Ann Mannion, and Russ Williams, 20 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren, beloved sister-in-law, Ida Williams McClellan, Sylvania, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Dixon officiating. Burial will be in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Russ Williams, Greg Brant, Kenny Dyson, Justin Moore, Nick Brant and Al Pye.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association and would like to thank the staff at Tara Nursing Home for her care.
