
Sylvania –Willette Frances Yaughn Rowell, age 85, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2011. She had been a resident of Syl-View Health Care Center for eight years. She was born near Grovania, GA, the daughter of Exie and Willie Lee Yaughn who preceded her in death, along with siblings: Jeannette Greene, Mary Baugh and Jerry Cox. Her two surviving sisters are Martine Pollack of Sylvania and Martha Walker of Cairo, GA.
Willette Rowell was an honor graduate of Perry High School in 1943. She was a graduate of GA-Alabama Business College and worked at Warner Robbins Air Force Base. After attending the John Powers Finishing School in Baltimore, MD, she returned to Atlanta to pursue a long career in the Veteran’s Administration, eventually earning an honor’s degree from GA State University. She was an avid traveler through-out Europe and others countries.
Willette leaves behind numerous surviving nephews and nieces. She will be missed by all.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Double Heads Baptist Church, prior to the service.
Funeral Services: Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Double Heads Baptist Church with Rev. Terry B. Joyner officiating. Burial at the church cemetery.
Pallbearers: Bobby Carter, Norman McCommon, Jody Peatross, Keith Baugh, Jimmy Pollack and Craig Armell.
