June 29, 1941 – May 6, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Ada Louise Vapsva, 83, of Syosset, NY.
Ada, the daughter of Dominick and Carmela Malice, was the beloved wife of 63 years to John. She was an extraordinary mother to Cathy and John (Jeanellen), and dear grandmother to Juliet, Christine, Dominick, and Elizabeth. She was the cherished sister of Sal Malice.
Throughout her life, she touched so many with her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. She was much loved by the many friends whose lives she graced.
She was legendary for her generosity and sense of humor and gave of herself without hesitation. Her laughter, stories, and steady support will be missed beyond words.
Ada was a voracious reader and famous for her extremely high tolerance of hot sauces and spicy foods. She loved nothing more than bopping around the kitchen listening to classic rock while she prepared enough food to feed an army. She remained a loyal fan to the Yankees, Jets, and Islanders, no matter how many times they broke her heart.
She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to guide her family and all who knew her. We are grateful for the time we shared with her, and she will live on in our hearts forever. Next time you have a glass of wine (preferably red!), please offer up a toast to her.
We invite all who knew and loved Ada to join us in celebrating her extraordinary life. Visitation will take place at Beney Funeral Home in Syosset, NY on Friday, May 9th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10th at 9:45am at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Syosset, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children, in honor of Ada’s giving spirit.
