

Born on January 3, 1949, in Roslyn, New York, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Dorothy Becht.
Carolyn was passionate about science throughout her life and pursued her education, completing her Bachelor's Degree in medical technology from Saint John’s University with a full tuition scholarship. She worked as a laboratory technologist at Hartford Hospital for over 20 years, demonstrating her commitment and expertise. After her retirement, Carolyn continued to serve her community by volunteering at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Carolyn married the love of her life, Harry F. Dammers in 1970; they were married for 55 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving family and life, raising their daughters, Meagan and Shannon in Rocky Hill, CT .
Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband Harry, her daughter Shannon Milligan and son-in-law Daniel, and her cherished grandchildren, Willa Meagan Milligan and Noah Bud Milligan. She is also survived by her younger sister Barbara Cannizzaro and her brother-in-law Paul Cannizzaro, as well as her niece and nephews and multiple grand nieces and nephews. Carolyn was predeceased by her daughter Meagan Dammers McCormick and her sister Mary Jayne McKay.
Carolyn was known for her avid love of dogs, having spent much of her retirement rescuing older dogs and giving them a loving home. She will always be remembered as an amazing grandmother who valued her family above all else. Her life in Cary, North Carolina, was filled with love and dedication to those she held dear.
Visitation will be held at Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill Road, Syosset, NY 11791, on January 12, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be at St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church, 205 Jackson Avenue, Syosset, NY 11791, on January 13, 2026 at 11:00 am. A luncheon will follow the mass and all are invited to attend. Details will be given at the church.
Throughout her life, Carolyn dedicated herself to various charities and causes. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in her honor.
