Lee was preceded in death by his beloved and devoted wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Ann (Goff) Alexander. He is survived by their four adoring children Olivia, Neal, Paul and Cecily and a dear grandson Alex Morrell.
While growing up as a schoolboy in Sayville, Long Island, Lee played team sports, baseball, football, and basketball. Academically he excelled in math and history. Attaining the rank of captain, Lee proudly served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater of WWII and later in the Korean War. During the Korean War, he developed an approved hydraulic system to pump fuel from ship to shore to support an amphibious invasion. After graduating from Purdue Univ. in 1948 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Lee continued his interest in hydraulics professionally. Specializing in centrifugal pump sales and applications, he was employed by Frank A. Kristal Assocs., Inc. in Manhattan, becoming its president upon Mr. Kristal’s death, as president he expanded the company and later merged with G. A. Fleet, Inc. in 1989. With Lee applying his expertise until the age of 94, many pumps were installed at sites throughout the NY tri-state area.
In July,1949 Lee married Elizabeth (Ann) Goff. Raising their family of four children, the couple moved to Oyster Bay in 1954 and joined the Episcopal Parish at Christ Church. Lee naturally transferred his boyhood passion for baseball to playing golf successfully as a senior club champion. He was elected President of the Locust Valley School Board serving three years. Lee also contributed to his community as police commissioner and a trustee for the Village of Muttontown for 10 and 23 years respectively.
