Luz Nelly Mendez

Luz Nelly Mendez, age 86, of Baldwin, New York passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022. Luz Nelly lived a full life. A strong and independent woman, she raised her two daughters Yamil Sarabia and Aminta Mendez alone in Locust Valley, NY. She worked as a Bilingual reference liaison for the Glen Cove City Library, a Computer Data Entry Operator at Photocircuits of Glen Cove and retired as Nurse Assistant from Sun Harbor Nursing Home. Freedom and self-determination were important to her, and she assisted three woman and their children in her community out of domestic violence relationships by bringing them to her home while they too were able to become strong independent women. Chained and imprisoned for too many years by severe disease of old age, she is now free and rejoicing as she moves closer to grasp Jesus’s hand and go home. Along with her daughters, she says goodbye for now to grandchildren Eduardo Morales Jr., Andrew Pena, Jesenia Penna and Kiana Sinclair.
