

Born on June 2, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY, Rod was the son of the late Rodman Guy and Anne (Sauer) Chrysler. After graduating from St. Michael’s Diocesan High School, Rod began his study of mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He later enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Fort Meade and Kaiserslautern, Germany. After returning from the Army, Rod worked in telephone installation and repair and completed his degree at night. In 1982, he founded PSC-Floturn, a manufacturer of conveyor turns which he owned and operated for more than 25 years.
He met the love of his life Helen at the Brielle Yacht Club on the Jersey Shore and married her soon after in 1968. Rod and Helen enjoyed many family vacations on the Jersey Shore and moved to Brick, NJ later in life.
Rod loved the water and hosting family and friends on his boat. When he was not working on his boat, Rod could be found building or repairing something around the house.
He was a humble and genuine individual who loved his wife, family, and friends. His faith was an important aspect of his life. Rod and Helen were active parishioners of St. Edward the Confessor of Syosset, NY for more than 40 years. He volunteered at Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey providing transportation to medical appointments and providing relief to caregivers of loved ones with chronic illness or dementia.
Rod's family extends its sincere appreciation to all who supported and cared for Rod in various ways, especially his aid Ketevan “Katie” Villalba.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Helen (Mahoney); a grandson, Sean Chrysler; two brothers, Guy and Gerald; and a sister, Jane (Peirano).
He is survived by his sons Rodman (Katherine), Hugh, Patrick (Megan); daughter Catherine (Neil) Doolan; nine grandchildren, Christopher Chrysler, William Chrysler, Peter Chrysler, Charles Chrysler, Evelyn Chrysler, Elizabeth Doolan, Jane Doolan, Mary Kate Doolan, and Edward “Teddy” Doolan; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral mass for Rodman will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 9:45 AM at St. Edward Confessor RC Church, 205 Jackson Avenue, Syosset, New York 11791. An interment will follow at St. Charles Resurrection Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, New York 11735.
