It sure is hard to believe that 5 years have passed but I can guarantee that not a day of those 5 years has passed without one, or many of us, talking to Christopher in our hearts and in our minds. Today I am picturing my last visit with CTodd in south Florida and our drive around the beach before an incredible day and night with our family that was living down there at the time. He helped me pull off a huge surprise and we had a blast every single moment. Absolutely priceless. Every day is a beautiful day but today is one that we dedicate to a beautiful guy....

I'm only just now learning of Chris' death.  We lost touch not long after he left the FAM Service. I got online this evening to try to touch base with him after coming across many pictures of us in training. My heart is broken to learn of such a loss.  Chris was the kind of guy that did not go unnoticed.  Besides his obvious good looks, he was playful and kind.  He was always fun to banter with and had a wicked funny personality. I am sad that I will never have the opportunity to tell him what an impact he had on me....and I'm sad that I will never get to see his perfect smile again.  He was always a gentleman and a loyal, supportive friend.  My heart goes out to his family and close friends.

A warm, kind-hearted, and generous person will always be remembered. Chris

There's a new song that came out recently and I swear it reminds me of you and Mikey each and every time that I hear it. I can't even begin to explain it but I can tell you this....you are thought of often by Melissa Irene (aka The Brat).

You've been on my mind lately. Wish I was able to spend a lot more time with you than I had.  You would have loved your little cousins.  Miss your smile, your laugh, your hugs. Nobody gives hugs like you and my Dad. The kind of hugs that just grab your heart and pull it in for a squeeze. You just made everyone around you so happy. You still do in our thoughts and in our hearts. Take care of Grandpa up there. Love you.

"CT" you took me in as a roommate at NOVA U. Housing at NU screwed things up and it was meant to be that both yourself and "T-Bone" took me in. Definitely the best days of college. Playing baseball, late night fishing and all around great times. Kita ...130 pnd rotweiller still ruled the apartment (ha). 
  Like many of the people lives you touched ....you were family ...a brother to me. I was devastated to say the least when I heard this news. It was very hard for me to even write this message over the last year because I refused to believe you were gone. 
   I was in Cooperstown, NY August 2013 and out of the blue ....I was asked to play in a 40 over baseball game on the Double Day hall of fame field. I haven't played in years and sure enough I see an opposing shortstop that was identical to you ...on top of that wearing 5. I still think about this today.
   I owe it to everyone here that CT still looks down upon us all and this is proven fact. He loved his family. Begged for his Mom's care after rotator cuff surgery :) and always had loving respect for his Dad ...same with siblings ...don't know you personally, but he loved you all very much. You all were a part of molding a great friend to all of us. He was a deep individual and he loved his friends ...loyalty went a long way with CT. 
 He was hard working and when he was involved in something it was always 110% effort or I like to say 4th and goal in everything he wanted to be successful in. 
   You are missed my brother and please keep sending those signs that you are looking over all of us and keeping us safe. I'll always miss your greeting to me "EZ - E and the place to be"

what a wonderful person he was. Always putting himself aside to check on others. I worked with Chris in the city of Belle Glade. We both were promoted to the Detective division together.  We , at the time young and full of engergy ,   started the street team combating narcotics . One of our first cases , we were behind a 3 story building known for drug sales. we walked thru a field and positioned ourselfs behind the building. Using the night sky as concealment, we made  4 arrests behind the building  and realized the field was all planted with marijuana plants.  We recovered about 80 plants.  I have to say being a young cop back then and not knowing what the plants actually looked like,we were excited and pumped. As we were walking out with the suspects and plants in hand, a older gentleman began yelling in a unknown language. Chris dealt with the suspects at the police station.  I bagged the marijuana plants and placed them in evidence. The next morning I see the same older gentleman at the police dept. leaving the Chief's office . I got called in the office and the Chief of police wanted an explanation on why I completly destroyed this man's okra garden. Chris, i miss you buddy , rest in peace.

Just found out about Chris's passing. I'm so sorry. I worked with Chris for a couple of years at Warrants Bureau. It was a pleasure to work with him. He was a great guy and joy to be around. He was always smiling. My sincere condolences to his family & friends.

I met Chris in 3rd grade @ Holy Cross.  We were friends, and played on the basketball team together until my family moved us after the 7th grade.  It's so sad to lose someone so young, but I know he's in a better place.  RIP Chris.

Chris and I became friends when we met at Bass Lake. I will always remember all the good advice he gave me.

I am so deeply sorry to learn of CT's passing.  He was always someone I admired on and off the baseball field.  I've only had a chance to see CT a few times since our Nova days together. My deepest respects to the Todd family. Also,to my friends like Jay Dunhm, Dennis Grants and Todd Mathis who were so close to him, I'm very sorry.

Cris was my beautiful friend and neighbor who was able to warm hearts with his smile, and I am so blessed to have known him. 

I enjoyed the beach with Cris, and he was a great source of inspiration for me. He spent his life serving others. He cherished his family and especially his mother of whom he spoke so fondly. On behalf of the Family......

 Thanks to the Syracuse Police Department who provided a beautiful escort of Chris from the airport.

 And, to The Syracuse Fire Department who stood outside with their lights and ladders up saluting Chris as he went by.

 I want to thank the New York State Officers and Onondaga County Sheriff’s Officers who stood as the color guard today for this fallen-officer.

 Chris Tood, a/k/a (C.T.; Czonk; Boog)

 When Chris was a little guy around 5 - 8 years old, we used to play football in the basement of his grandparents house.  He wore a Miami Dolphins helmet - so let me tell you I wasn’t afraid to lay a hit on him because of course, I am a New York Jets fan.  

 It also didn’t hurt that I was 10 years older and lot bigger.  But I digress. 

 Nick, Frank and I pretty much tortured “Boog”.  When he got hurt, we looked at him and said “don’t rub it.”  Then we asked “are you gonna cry?”  And he would bite his lower lip and looked at us like “I wanted to take you out.”  

 Then we told him if he told his Mom Aggie that he got hurt, we wouldn’t be able to play with him anymore.

 I give you this information because I am going to try to bite my lip like Chris and not “rub it” through this memorial because he would wan that - I hope my lip doesn’t bleed. 

 Tom Hanks said “there’s no crying in baseball”.  I sure wish this was baseball.

 Later everyone is welcome at the Ramada Inn on Buckley Road, where the family is having a reception for Chris to celebrate his life.  Everyone is invited.  Okay, I said reception.  Let’s call it what Chris would call it.  We are going to have a party in Chris’ honor, and we will all share our stories of Chris and things he did with each other.  We all have a lot of them.

 So, I’m going to begin with comments from the family.  

 Family Message:

 Christopher Todd, a whole-hearted man indeed.  We have lost such a great person.  It is still hard to believe that somebody who had as much energy as Chris did can be gone now.  In so many ways, Chris seemed immortal to so many of us.  When you think of Chris, you think of infinite existence.

 Christopher meant something different to each and every one of us here today.  One thing that was always a constant was his way of making everyone laugh.  Chris had a story, joke or comment for any occasion and was always the life of the party.  He always found time to be with his friends and family.  He knew that surrounding himself with us all would keep him happy and living life to the fullest.

 He was also a great person to confide in, a great listener and philosophical talker at any hour!  He was always there for his friends and family.  I know there were so many times when each on of your found solace in Chris’ advice or friendship.  And, although he loved to get you to talk and open up to him about life and your thoughts on life, he was the kind of person who didn’t force his ideas or thoughts on you.  He just listened and made his own comment about the situation.  If you chose to do something about it after the deep conversation, it was entirely up to you!  He certainly had a way of getting you to think about anything and everything in a different light.  

 There are only a handful of people who come into your world, and touch your life in a dramatic fashion.  Some of the people are just flickers of light during a long life, while others are consistent glows for years.  For all of us here today, Christopher was our consistent glow.  He was a son, brother, nephew, grandson, best friend, friend, partner, co-worker, even an acquaintance but he touched us all in a way we will never forget. 

 It brings tears to our eyes knowing all of the lives he has touched.  We will always be grateful for his love, friendship, and guidance.  Chris, we know we will see each other again.  We will shake hands and sit around a table and toast to life and the great tines we have shared.  In the meantime, please do guide us all as we live our lives here on earth.  Do watch over your family and close friends, and do protect t hem from harm.  

 Christopher, you will always be remembered and you will always live in our hearts for as long as we live.  We love you so much.  Let us all be thankful for all the special moments that CT has left us.  God bless Christopher and God bless you all here today.

 Dear Chris,

 I love you.  You make us smile.  You make us laugh.  You make us so proud. 

  On the day you were born my life forever changed.  Your life was the single greatest blessing bestowed upon me.  We knew you were special.  It is not for us to understand why God has chosen you, but when we reflect on your short life, it seems apparent. 

 By making each person that you come in contact with feel important and loved, you have and will continue to make other people’s lives better.  It was often just a simple word or gesture but your desired outcome was always the same.  The kiss you gave to Grandma every time you walked into the room, the words of encouragement you gave to your cousins as they were learning to hit a baseball, the phone calls and visits to your uncles and aunts just to say hello or your greeting of “Hi Pops” accompanied with a big hug, smile and kiss were all done with a purpose of making people feel loved.

 Your hard work and spirit was evident in everything you did.  You committed yourself to excellence whether academics, athletics or your chosen profession of law enforcement.  I will never forget the periodic messages left on the refrigerator, reminding me how I should live my life.  One of our favorites was, “Ability is what you’re capable of doing, motivation determines what you do, and attitude determines how well you do it.”  Your attitude resulted in a baseball scholarship, a college degree, and a position with one of the most respected law enforcement agencies in the country.  You wanted to be the best that you can be.

  Chris, you have made the world a better place.  You cared about the greater good and your solemn oath to protect and serve others and the community was appreciated by those around you.  Although you were too humble to discuss your accomplishments, every time I interacted with your friends and fellow police officers, I was reminded about the love and respect you were given by those that you touched.

 You are our support, our “Wingman.”

 Your thoughtful recognition and insight into others was consistently remarkable.  Your gift of appreciating each person’s uniqueness was undeniable.  And your laugh, a welcome contagion to any atmosphere, will ever be forgotten.  Chris, I promise to keep your legacy of loving and caring for others alive.  I know that some day we will all be together again.

 I leave you with a poem.

 in death we do the same.

 To many of you he was Christopher, Chris, CT, Brother, and at some times I am sure a few other choice words, but to me he was always Chrisy-Baby, and I was always Sister.  And although this is indeed  a sad day for all of us, I have the fondest memories of the most wonderful man I have ever known.  Without him, I would not have made it through many of life’s struggles and still be standing strong.  Of course, I didn’t always feel that way.

 I do remember the says when I hated the week old socks in my mouth, the daily beat-downs for no other reason than he was bored and the baseballs and soccer balls whipped at me to supposedly make me be able to play as good as the big boys.  Then there were the moments when he would beat one of the guys butt ‘cuz they tackled me in football and they would look at him and say “well you just took her down”, and he would laugh and say he was the only guy that could touch me.  He was that annoying older brother, yet always had my back.

 And then we grew up....I was in the hospital for a week, and Chrisy-Baby flew up from Florida and spent the week sleeping on the hospital floor by my bed with me.  It was then our relationship changed both of us forever.  We bonded without fists, but with our hearts and shared conversations I will cherish forever.  Christopher made me survive not just that week, but throughout my entire life.  It was my relationship with him that made me be a strong, determined, self-reliant, never-quitting, perfectionist....the same qualities we all found within him. 

 The way our Brother Chris lived his life teaches us all one of the most valuable lessons in life...stand up for what you believe in.  Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.  From our long talks, I learned that the most important thing that he had was us, his family.  Though he may not have said it much out loud to you, I know that he was really proud of his family.  His Mother was his angel, the love if his life, center of his universe.  I k now that our Brother will continue to live on within our hearts and minds.  I am so proud of the man he was and will carry his spirit within me.  I love you Chrisy-Baby.

 Now I’m not going to finish by talking about Chris out on the porch at 1:00 a.m. at the camp with his Uncle Frank, Nick and myself after Aggie thought she put him in bed.

 I’m not going to talk about Chris going fishing as a little kid at 5:00 a.m. on the lake before breakfast, and Aggie waking saying “where’s Chris?”

 I’m not going to talk about Chris playing basketball at Holy Cross or having an article in the paper at 12 years old that touted Chris with the headline Chris Captures “Young” Syracuse Image. Gees Chris, I could have used press like that!

 I’m not going to talk about Chris being the 1991 College sunbelt player of the year, batting 377 with an on base percentage of .502.   Before being injured in 1992, but because of his selflessness, he didn’t red-shirt, which would have given him another year to show his wares to the pros.  Instead, he stayed loyal to his team and teammates, and became the designated hitter for the year to contribute to the club.

 I’m not going to talk about Chris coming home to Syracuse playing softball with all of us, undisputably the best short-stop and player on any team he played for. 

 Hell, I only caught the ball at first base when he threw it because that rocket would kill me if I missed it!  

 Listen, everyone loved C.T.  In fact, Nova University, thanks to Dennis Grants on March 5th this year against St. Rose will be having a moment of silence and painting his number on the field for the rest of the season.

 Chris loved police work.  He used to ride in the police car with me, and he loved to play with the siren and lights, and I’m talking about when he was 22 years old!

 When he worked for Liverpool, he just got his badge and was pretty excited.  He went right out to work, no not catching bad buys, speeding up and down the parkway in his IROC and showing the cops his I.D.  so he wouldn’t get hooked up.

 I got calls from all over the place - cops confirming “you got a new cop” yeah I do!  

 Then came the Florida police service.  His partners and friends are here in the snow to honor him.  I guess Chris got the last laugh on you guys.  How do you like the snow?!

 I’m not going to talk about Chris disarming an armed suspect threatening to kill his family, and being awarded the Medal of Honor.

 See....this is the real question.  Who was Chris Todd.

 I look at Chris and see that huge smile and I think of Aggie, Frank, Carmooch, Rosebud, Jim and Anna.  All smilers.

 I see his determination - I think of his Grandfather, Frank, his Dad Wayne and Mike.

 I think of his love and caring attitude, and I think of his Grandmothers.  Boy did they love him, cook for him, and get those stains out of his uniforms.  
 
 I think of the way he turned on a ball going to his right in the hole, and I saw that hundreds of times by his Uncle Nick.

 I see how he throws so hard and I think of Dennis Grants, Bobby Hayes and a lot of other guys that hurt my hand when I caught their throws.

 I look at his love of Pompano Beach, and I see his buddy, Philly’s, love of Pompano Beach.  

 I hear him sing and I think of Aaron Roberts singing and that Ebony and Ivory routine in Canada. 

 I think of the pride he had in people and I see the pride his brother Mike, and sisters Karen and Michelle have in him.   

 And, I see his love of police work and I see me in a mirror.

 See.....this is who Chris Todd is - He is all of us.  Everyone.

 He took the best we had and made it his. 

 So, let me end this the way Chris handled pretty much every phone call we had, and I am sure it was the same with all of you.

 How you doing.  How are the girls.  You good...is it all good?  

 “Yeah Chris, it’s all good.”

Rest in Peace my brother. You will be missed. My deepest condolences to your family. May the Lord give them strength and comfort through this time of sorrow.

After spending almost a week with so many friends and family members that knew and loved Christopher, I must say that I did not know him for as long as most, or as well as most, but the time I was able to spend getting to know him will not be forgotten and neither will Christopher. We had many laughs and great conversation when he visited Syracuse. It was my great pleasure to watch him and Nicholas spend time with each other and their stories!!...I could listen to them forever. I don't think anyone I know or will know in this lifetime has done and seen so many things and in such a short time. I know Nicholas is so proud to have been able to teach Christopher the things he did and to learn from him as well. Chris knew life in a different sense than either Nick or I do and we were always in awe of how he handled what he did, his job, his responsibility to the public… and through it all he greeted us with a big hug, a smile and so many laughs. You would have never known he had such serious daily activities. His dedication to his profession was remarkable and outstandingly commendable.

My heart goes out to Aggie, Michelle, Karen, Mike and his entire family, whom I am proud to be a part of, and his friends, so many, who all have lost their earthly son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, friend… but have most definitely gained an angel, who will guide them through the sadness to the light.

Chris, I had not seen you in many years and yet the news of your passing struck me hard. I constantly have flashing memories such as when we were still kids playing little league baseball, watching Mike jump up and down as you slid into home.

I remember when I first came back to MDPD from the Secret Service I had the pleasure of riding with Chris. He soon became my partner and nick named me Zena his warrior princess.  We had a great friendship and I loved him for who he was. He always had a warm smile and brightened the worst of times. Chris you are missed by so many... You'll always hold that special place in my heart and I hope you took to heart what I told you when I saw you last.   My thoughts go to your family they were so blessed and lucky to have you.

Chris and I worked together at the Midwest station and one thing about Chris is that he would always go out of his way to stop and say hi. He was one of the good ones and will truly be missed. Rest in peace my brother and my god bless your family.

Chris, the WB won't be the same without you. You were kind, generous and so respectful, an overall amazing guy. Your warrants family misses you dearly! You will always hold a place in my heart.

Chris was our neighbor and friend and as many have posted in their comments, he always had that beautiful smile and a warm hug to greet you.  We are deeply saddened by his sudden passing and want his family to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm so glad I had the opportunity to know you and work with you, as did my father. YOu were always so sweet and fun to be around. There was always a smile on your face, and you had a great attitude. I will miss you so much. Not only were you an awesome police officer, you were a great friend. I will never forget you.
I pray God bless your family in this devasting time. I hope they find some comfort in knowing how much you are loved and missed by so many.

Chris and I worked Warrants together for several years.  He was a great cop and someone we could always count on for backup.  I remember when he left for the Air Marshals and how everyone stated how much he would be missed.  I then had the pleasure, a few years later, of welcoming him back as his Field Training Sergeant.  Needless to say he quickly went through his training phases, straight to Detective at the district, and back to his home-- Warrants.  We will all miss you Chris, but that smile of yours will serve you well wherever you are now.

To the Todd family I send my prayers & deepest sympathy. 

Chris, I am going to miss that prize winning smile....Todd would greet me every day he came upstairs to GIU in Northwest District with a warm smile & a great big hug. Many times he did not know how much I needed that but it was always right on time. I am proud to have worked with him & was a joy to have made his aquaintance. Chris was a genuine guy inside and out! Chris, I will never forget you & will be waiting for that hug & see that smile....we will meet again!

To Aggie,MIke,Wayne and family...I don't have the words to say what a loss this is to everyone.Chris was one of my best friends.He was a brother to me.We shared alot, From playing baseball together, to hanging out everyday, to concocting an alibi to keep Joe Pullano out of trouble, to fishing at his camp and answering Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs for every trivia question.To joining the force with me in Miami.I will never forget him.My only regret was leaving him in Miami and now not being able to say goodbye.I am a better person for knowing him. He brought that out in people, especially me. He stuck by me in times of need. He laughed at my jokes and kept me going when i was down. The world loss a great guy...Until we meet again...I love you and I'll miss you... Rest in Peace...POO.

I met Chris at the Doral District when he worked for the Miami-Dade Police Department.  His smile could light up the room, and those piercing blue eyes were incredible! He was a good natured, caring, young man who always had a handshake or a hug for everyone.  When he talked of leaving MDPD to become an Air Marshal, we all knew we would miss him.  Then, one day the office lit up again, and he was back!  Chris, you were a great guy and will be deeply missed.  My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of his family.

May the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding keep your heart and mind during this time. Our sincere condolences to the family and friends.

 I am so saddened by the loss of Chris, he was a very special person.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why he left this earth so soon, or why he left before you were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that he died, but that he lived. And that his life gave you memories too beautiful to forget.

Agnes, I am so very sorry for your loss.  I remember Chris as a very young boy, many, many years ago.  I always felt that special love you two shared.
