Daniel M. McCann

Daniel M. McCann, 74, of Syracuse, passed away on August 8, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after battling a long illness. He was born in Syracuse, the son of Stephen and Helen (Danquer) McCann. He attended St. Anthony’s School and was a graduate of Valley High School. He worked at Vernon Downs Race Track for over 50 years and was a retired foreman with the City of Syracuse’s Parks and Recreation Department. Dan was a devout Catholic and had a great love for his family. He enjoyed golfing, going to the Dome to watch the Syracuse Orange, and traveling to Yankees Stadium to cheer on the New York Yankees.

Surviving is his daughter Danielle McCann Cima (Jeffrey) of Cicero, his former wife Mary (Caruso) McCann of Cicero, his brother Timothy McCann of Canandaigua, his sister, Mary Anne Kimball of Syracuse, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his best friend and brother, Stephen E. McCann, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8 a.m. at Farone and Son Funeral Home, and 9 a.m. at St. Daniel’s Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Farone and Son Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse, New York, on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
