

Geraldine Farley, 93, of Pompey passed away on January 9th at home surrounded by her family. Born Geraldine Day on February 21, 1918 in The Bronx to Samuel and Sophie Day, she grew up in Westwood NJ. “Ged” was the youngest and last surviving of three sisters, Virginia Day Churchill and Dorothy Day Brown. She was predeceased by her husband William Farley. Ged attended The New York School of Fine and Applied Arts in New York City. She worked as a fashion artist illustrating advertisements for newspapers and later as a layout designer with Halliday Lithograph in Hanover Mass. A lifelong artist and animal lover, Geraldine’s beautiful pastel portraits of beloved dogs and cats adorn the walls of her family and friends homes. She married William Farley and lived in many places in the Northeast. Bill & Ged traveled the world spending time in Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and New Zealand before retirement in Florida. For the past 10 years she has lived in Pompey, NY with her daughter and son-in-law Jill and Victor Lafrenz.
Ged is survived by her son Craig Farley and her daughter Jill (Farley) Lafrenz (Victor), her Grandchildren, Andrew (Katie) Lafrenz, Bryan Farley, Clayton (Colleen) Lafrenz, Amanda Farley, Julianne Lafrenz, and her Great Grandchildren Nora and Meghan Lafrenz. Ged was an active member of St David’s Episcopal Church in Englewood Fl. and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville. She was also a member of the Pompey Lyons Club.
A Memorial service will be held February 4 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Ged’s name to The Syracuse SPCA 5878 East Molloy Road Syracuse, NY 13211.
