

The Lord called home his son, Jerry Eugene Wilson, on February 2, 2012. A small service will be held at the Farone & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, officiated by Rev. McMilliam, New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Thereafter Jerry will be flown to North Carolina and service will be held at the Greater Brandon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Eulogized by his cousin, Rev. Preston Medley, Pastor, Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Semora, N.C.
Jerry was born on October 2, 1944 and was the son of the late John D Wilson and the late Georgianna (Medley) Wilson Pointer. He accepted Christ at an early age becoming a member of the then Brandon Chapel Baptist Church. Jerry later moved to Syracuse, NY where he joined the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and served faithfully as an Usher. Jerry’s survivors include a loving companion, Catherine Tuitt, and a long-time friend Sherrel Freeman; three daughters, Robin, Sherrill and Jeanne Freeman of Syracuse N.Y. and one son, Redell (Mary) Freeman of Rochester, N.Y. Jerry also served as a father-figure to Roberto and Kisha Tuitt and Reginal and Shalon Clemons, all of Syracuse, N.Y. His survivors also include loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and three devoted sisters; Louise Woody of Alton, VA.; Lelia Leverette (Clarence) of Mooresville, N.C. and Janice Wilson of Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers; Johnnie Wilson of Roxboro, N.C., Robert Wilson of South Boston, VA., and Charlie Wilson of Binghamton, N.Y., a host of nieces and nephews and one uncle, Pete Carrington of Halifax, VA.
Jerry was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 and served until 1969. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in Laos during the period from 1968 to 1969 and was granted an honorable discharge.
