Josephine DeCherico

Josephine Vecchio DeCherico, 98, a life resident of Syracuse passed away Friday. Josephine was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church and a member of the St. Theresa's Society. She retired from E.W. Edwards Department Store as an excellent seamstress until the store closed. Mrs. DeCherio also was a volunteer for the Board of Elections for many years. Her husband Victor passed away in 1969.

Survivors: Her daughters, Marilyn (Joseph) Germani of Penfield, NY and Gloria Franczek of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Mary Jo Penizotto, Joseph Germani, Victor Germani, Thomas Franczek and Damien Franczek, ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Pompei/St Peter Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. A calling hour will be held prior to the services from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church, 301 Ash St. Farone & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
